PART 1 - The Journey That Wasn’t What It Seemed…

Sharing more of the wisdom gained from my adventures out in the world has been on my mind lately,

And it feels like the right time to tell you about an experience that was disconcerting, humbling, and healing - all at once.

It was one of those moments that shifts your perspective, widening your understanding of who you are and why you’re here.

And I wonder if it might resonate with you too?

It started like this…

I thought I was signing up for a peaceful nature walk, ending at a picturesque, fairytale bridge.

On the surface, that’s exactly what it looked like…

But what I experienced was quite different.

It was late in the afternoon when I arrived at the start of the hike in rural Provence, and before long I found myself entirely alone on the trail.

The wind was picking up but the sun was shining. I felt lighthearted, enjoying the outdoors and looking forward to reaching the water.

As I descended deeper into the woods towards the bottom of the gorge, the atmosphere began to shift.

The canopy overhead grew dense, dimming the light, while the landscape became sparse and eerie.

I felt uneasy but pushed it aside, reassuring myself I’d feel better once I reached the clearing.

Finally arriving near the bottom, I crossed a small stream, passed an abandoned ruin, and navigated through dense forest until I arrived at the clearing.

For a moment, I felt relief.

But only for a moment.

The wind whipped around me with a force that seemed alive, leaves swirling and trees creaking.

The water rushed fiercely beneath the bridge, and the air carried a sweet, sickly scent.

Before I knew it, I was overwhelmed by a flood of sensations.

I felt startled. Panicked. And deeply unsafe.

My feet felt unsteady beneath me, all my senses sharpening as my body simultaneously braced itself, and prepared to flee.

As my mind scrambled to catch up, intuitive impressions began to surface.

I didn’t expect what emerged…

You can read the rest of the story, and what I learned from the experience HERE in Part 2
